Christy Toben joined the Marian staff in 2003 as a Gateway Vincentian Volunteer. After serving as a volunteer for one year, Christy became the language arts teacher. In 2007, she became principal and served in that role until the end of the 2014-2015 school year. Christy spent the next school year as a volunteer and returned as religion teacher in 2016. Christy has a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from Murray State University, a Master’s of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies from DePaul University, and a Master’s of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Notre Dame. She has spent time in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia teaching English as a Second Language and training Ethiopian teachers and coordinating the teaching/spiritual formation of fellow volunteers. Christy was honored by fellow Catholic school principals in 2013 with the Rose Philippine Duchesne Distinguished Principal award and received the Peabody Leader in Education award in 2012.
