Sarah Walker was named principal in 2015 after serving for one year as vice principal during the 2014–2015 school year. Before becoming principal, she served as fifth grade teacher for five years. Sarah has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education/Special Education from Fontbonne University and a Master’s Degree in Catholic Educational Leadership and Administration from Saint Louis University. Prior to coming to Marian, Sarah was a high school special education and English as a Second Language teacher, volleyball and track coach, and youth minister in rural Mississippi. In 2014, she received an Incarnate Word “Caring Hands” award after a former student nominated her for making a positive difference in her life. In 2015, Sarah was honored with a Peabody Energy Leaders in Education award for inspiring, guiding, teaching, and leading her students. In 2016, she received another Incarnate Word “Caring Hands” award. A former student nominated her because, “She is an amazing role model. She is there for any and every situation…She is an amazing teacher, coach, counselor, and principal.”
