A Woman Making History: Our President Mary Elizabeth Grimes
– During Black History Month, Marian President Mary Elizabeth Grimes had the honor of sharing her family’s history with Carol Daniel at KMOX. The “Living History” series features a number of St. Louisans making Black History today.
Their conversation covered everything from Mary Elizabeth’s role in helping to build the Jackie Joyner Kersee Center, to her family’s journey to East St. Louis, and how we view our role at Marian.
“I believe that love can conquer many things,” said Mary Elizabeth. “Our children need to know not only are they loved, but they were born of love. God IS love. Who he created them to be is unique. They are valued. Who you are is a magnificent creation of God.”
