Deairea: Class of 2018

Deairea will tell you she is a fast learner who loves a challenging math problem. Her test results tell an even bigger story. On this year’s IOWA Assesments, Deairea showed the greatest growth school-wide. Her overall composite went from the 31st percentile to the 80th in three years! And she makes or exceeds expected growth in both math and reading. In addition, she has tested at the highest level of the STAR Math program.

As impressive as her academics, is her poise. When asked if she considers herself shy, she smiles warmly. “I’m not a big talker, but I’m confident explaining things to a large group.” As proof, she landed a big part in Marian’s spring musical, Suessical, and looks forward to enjoying the spotlight on stage.

Deairea credits her family with support and inspiration. She and her fifth grade sister, Skye, agree. Like her parents, Deairea considers herself entrepreneurial. She dreams about designing her own fashion brand some day.

In her free time Deairea has plenty of interests. You might find her dancing, listening to music, or reading. She enjoys mysteries, romance, or historical novels about the Titanic and World War II.

Thank you for your generous support of Marian students like Deairea who accept a challenge and succeed!
