NaKaila is thriving in her freshman year of college, but eight years ago she was putting on her uniform for her first day at Marian Middle School. She had toured our campus and immediately felt a part of the sisterhood of students. She was ready to step into her own light.
She recently reflected on her journey, thinking about how the Marian community has brought her to this previously unimaginable turning point:
“I knew from the first day that Marian was the place for me. Throughout my three years in middle school, I grew as a student and a young woman. I chose to attend Nerinx Hall High School, where I was a scholar- athlete and student ambassador.”
“The Graduate Support Team at Marian was vital to my success in high school. No matter what I needed, they were able to provide: dual enrollment classes, ACT fees, college application fees, and the prestigious and highly competitive Washington University College Preparatory Program. Marian stood alongside my family and me through this entire journey.”
“With the team’s support — especially from Ms. Harris, Marian’s Director of College Success — I was able to begin the college application process early and received my first acceptance while I was still a junior. I have been accepted to 30 colleges and universities across the country!”
“I plan to become a nurse. YOU changed MY life as a Marian donor! It’s not easy to navigate the world as a young woman while trying to learn who you are. Marian shows us that we can shine brightly!”
Marian lights a path for girls like NaKaila — beginning in 5th grade and continuing for 12+ years through high school, college, and onto career placement. Why do we do this?
